A credible source that wishes to remain anonymous reached out to me and stated:
At some point Ahearn's was sold to a different owner.
The new owner started a seafood wholesale business.
Under former Waretown Mayor Dan Van Pelt's administration Ahearn's property was zoned as "Environmental Conservation" inappropriately.
Ahearn's could not legally conduct wholesale business if the property was zoned as "Environmental Conservation".
The new owners were aware that they had to fix the "Zoning Problem".
Waretown and Ahearn's have been working on fixing the problem for a while.
There will be meeting coming up to address issue.
I called Ahearn's today they stated that:
There is New management.
They are not closing.
There is no stuffed flounder today.
So support Ahearn's and have their fresh seafood for dinner.
